What we actually fix

Most commercial refrigeration calls come down to a handful of failure modes. A technician who works on this equipment daily can usually narrow it down before the truck arrives, so describing the symptom precisely on the phone can save you a diagnostic visit.

• Not holding temperature. The unit runs but the box will not pull down. Usually refrigerant charge, a restricted metering device, or a condenser that has not been cleaned in a year.
• Running constantly and never cycling. Often a failing door gasket or a defrost termination problem long before it is a compressor.
• Icing on the evaporator. A defrost cycle that is not terminating, a failed heater, or a door that is not sealing and is pulling humid air across the coil.
• Water on the floor. Blocked or frozen condensate drain line, nine times out of ten.
• Compressor short-cycling. Low charge, a failing start component, or a pressure control out of calibration.
• Noise that changed. Bearing wear in a fan motor, or a compressor beginning to fail. Worth calling about early.

Refrigerant handling and compliance

Every technician handling refrigerant on your equipment is EPA Section 608 certified.

R-404A systems get more expensive to service every year as the industry moves away from higher-GWP refrigerants, and plenty of Utah kitchens are still running them. If yours is one of those, we will price the repair against a retrofit so you can see both numbers. Topping off a leaking system twice a year is usually the worst of the available options.

What it costs

A diagnostic visit on commercial refrigeration runs about what a standard service call runs, and it applies against the repair if you go ahead. Common repairs land in the low hundreds: gaskets, fan motors, defrost components, thermostats, contactors.

Compressor replacement, refrigerant recovery and recharge, or evaporator work costs considerably more. On equipment past ten years old we will quote replacement alongside the repair, because at that age a repair often buys eight months.
